Evangelische Kirche Bornich
Rathausstraße 18, 56348 Bornich
Pillar basilica from the 12th century
A church that is open outside of service times offers a space of silence where one can retreat. It provides protection from noise and unrest. It invites you to take a seat and find peace. If you still have a bit of leisure, take a look around this house of worship. The church of Bornich was not insignificant in the Middle Ages. It was the mother church of Patersberg and St. Goarshausen, which separated from it around 1400 and 1427, respectively. Nothing is known about the construction period. It is assumed to be before 1138. The building combines various stylistic elements, including Romanesque, Early Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. Unfortunately, more details about its origin are not known.
