Iris Dream in the Panoramic Garden of Dörscheid
The Behrens family has fulfilled their dream of a lush blooming garden in the English style in Dörscheid. The approximately 1000 square meter family garden impresses with a magnificent view over the Hunsrück, but above all with hundreds of perennials and a currently 170-variety iris collection with over 1000 individual plants.
The iris blooms depending on the variety from mid-February to mid-July. The "orchid of the north" provides an incredible floral feast in endless color diversity throughout the spring and early summer. Peonies, lilies, delphiniums, phlox, poppies, and cranesbills join in, complemented by roses, bulb flowers, dahlias, lilacs, snowballs, summer lilacs, and other flowering shrubs.
The Behrens family places great importance on year-round flowering splendor, with the peak bloom expected between April and July, depending on the weather, and even in December, 25 different species in the Dörscheid panoramic garden delight the eyes.
