Kestert already had a place of worship early on; this building, along with several residential houses, fell victim to a fire in 1437. Subsequently, Archbishop Hrabanus granted a new church.
When the small church became dilapidated, the current St. George's Church was built in 1778/79 with its originally baroque furnishings.
